Felix Dames Music | About
Felix Dames is a composer and producer of electronic music mainly working within genres of minimal Techno, Tech-House, Deep-House, Progressive-House, Chill-Out and Ambient.
He started composing music in the early nineties. His music is influenced by that early trance and techno tunes but developed accordingly to new styles of today.
His love for electronic music as a whole prevents him from working only in a specific category.
Felix productions often blur in between genres or vary on a release.
Various audio elements and sounds often glue together into something unpredictable and new.
Felix is convinced that to enable and set free unlimited creativity, music should be allowed to cross borders.
His music is rhythmically straight to the point but always provides something for your mind to think and your soul to feel.
Deep richness, basses near subsonic scope, abstract soundscapes and melodies to fall in love, combined with an uncompromising danceable beat defines Felix sound.
The musical foundations for his work was laid in his youth by playing violin for several years, being a singer in a band and by exploring many different instruments. But when electronic music reached Felix ears for the first time he was convinced immediately that this is what he wants to do. Back then everything started with a Commodore Amiga 500 followed by an Atari ST computer and an E-mu EMAX II sampler...
In 1996 he produced and released his first album "Vlix-Trax" completely on his own and sold it without any distribution channel by hand.
1997 Felix produced the film score for the movie "Dark" directed by Phillip Stennert and Jacob Ziemniki.
In 1999 he started a side project called Dienzephalon with Konstantinos Athanassadis (DJ XDB).
Musically different from his usual productions, Dienzephalon was much more influenced by a psychedelic style of music and in parts orientated to chill out and ambient music.
Dienzephalon signed a record contract in 2000 with Nova Tekk and started releasing their music on its sub labels Liquid Audio Soundz, Naja Records, Global Trance Network, Sub Terranean. Soon followed Dienzephalons first album "Debut" in 2001. Some of Dienzephalons tracks were also released on Nova Tekks various artist compilations Pulse Vol.10 & 11, Tantrance Vol.11, Planet Goa Vol.4 and one track was licensed by Spirit Zone Recordings for their famous "Global Psychedelic Chill Out Vol.2" compilation.
With the insolvency of Nova Tekk in 2002 Dienzephalon's second album never got released to the public. At that time Felix already has moved from Göttingen, where he was born, to Berlin to study digital film arts as his second career. Since then he worked as a motion graphics designer for different agencies and postproduction companies.
